Crypto exchange fees

The advertised trading fee is only one part of the cost of using a crypto platform. Spreads, conversion charges and withdrawal costs can matter just as much.

Trading fees and spreads

Some exchanges charge explicit maker and taker fees. Others embed more of the cost in the quoted spread between buying and selling prices.

A low percentage fee does not automatically mean the cheapest effective price.

Funding and withdrawal costs

Platforms may charge for card funding, bank transfers, currency conversion or crypto withdrawals. Blockchain network fees can also affect the amount received when assets are moved off-platform.

These charges can vary by asset, payment method and network.

Compare the full path

A useful cost comparison follows the full path from funding the account to purchasing, holding, converting and eventually withdrawing an asset.

A useful exchange comparison should separate these components rather than presenting one fee as the total cost.

General information only. Investment products can lose value, and terms, fees and regulation can change.
