How to evaluate a crypto exchange

A crypto exchange should be evaluated as a financial and technology provider, not only by the number of tokens it lists.

Legal entity and oversight

Identify the company serving the relevant country and check what registrations or licences it holds. Regulatory status can differ between entities under the same brand.

Availability in an app store or search engine is not evidence of regulatory approval.

Custody, security and liquidity

Research who controls customer assets, how withdrawals work, whether the platform publishes useful custody information and how deep its markets are for the assets being considered.

Security history matters, but a clean past does not guarantee future safety.

Fees and evidence

Compare trading fees, spreads, conversion charges, funding costs and withdrawal fees. Terms should be dated because exchanges change pricing frequently.

General information only. Investment products can lose value, and terms, fees and regulation can change.
