Block explorers explained

A block explorer is a tool for viewing public blockchain data such as transactions, blocks and addresses.

How it works

Explorers read and index network data so users can inspect whether a transaction was included, how much fee it paid and which addresses were involved.

What to check

Use an explorer appropriate to the correct network and verify contract addresses through official project sources before relying on labels shown by third parties.

  • Use the correct network explorer
  • Verify contract addresses independently
  • Treat labels as metadata, not proof

Limits and risks

Explorer labels and token names are not authoritative. Scam tokens can copy familiar names, and an explorer cannot tell you whether a transaction was economically sensible.
