Spread
The spread is the difference between the quoted buying and selling price. A narrower spread usually means a lower immediate transaction cost, but spreads can change with liquidity and market conditions.
A headline minimum spread is not the same as the spread a customer will see at every moment.
Other trading costs
Some accounts charge an explicit commission in addition to a spread. Positions kept open may also incur financing or swap charges, depending on the product and direction of exposure.
Conversion fees, withdrawal fees and inactivity charges can matter even when they are not part of the quoted trading fee.
Compare total cost
A useful comparison separates each fee rather than compressing everything into a single marketing claim.
A useful comparison should separate spreads, commissions, financing and non-trading charges.
