How it works
A netting account combines trades into one net position, while a hedging account can keep separate long and short positions open at the same time. Platform terminology and implementation can vary.
What to check
Check the account mode before choosing a strategy that depends on separate tickets. Also verify how partial closes, stop orders and position history are represented.
- Check position accounting mode
- Review partial-close behavior
- Do not confuse gross positions with net risk
Limits and risks
The account mode changes position management, not the underlying economics. Holding equal long and short exposure can still incur spreads, commissions or financing.
