Forex trading in Kenya

Online forex trading in Kenya is regulated by the Capital Markets Authority under a specific licensing framework.

How it works

The CMA distinguishes licensed online forex brokers and money managers and publishes a register of licensees. Kenyan users can therefore verify whether a local entity is authorised before opening an account.

What to check

Use the CMA register, not a broker's marketing page, to confirm the legal name and licence number. Also read the customer agreement to ensure the CMA-regulated Kenyan entity is the one serving the account.

  • Check the CMA register
  • Match the legal entity in the agreement
  • Verify the official domain

Limits and risks

A global brand may operate several legal entities. The existence of a Kenyan licence does not mean every website or affiliate using the brand places a customer with that entity.
