CMA forex regulation in Kenya

Kenya's Capital Markets Authority regulates online foreign-exchange brokers and money managers under the Capital Markets framework.

How it works

The rules define dealing and non-dealing online forex brokers, licensing obligations and requirements around client onboarding, risk assessment and market conduct. The CMA also maintains a public licensee register.

What to check

When researching a broker, match the exact company name and licence number in the CMA register with the entity shown in the broker's legal documents. Brand names alone are not sufficient.

  • Use the CMA licensee list
  • Match company and licence number
  • Treat regulation as one part of due diligence

Limits and risks

Regulation reduces some provider risks but does not make leveraged forex low risk. It also does not validate investment claims made by unrelated agents or signal sellers.
